Megabonk unlocks
Sources checked Steam store API achievement total on 20 Oct 2026, the public achievement list, and the megabonk.org unlock index. Slot milestones are from that one index and may change with patches.
Do the task, then buy the character, weapon, or tome with Silver in the Unlocks menu. The task alone does not equip it.
Quest counts open shop upgrades: extra weapon slots, extra tome slots, Refresh, Skip, and Banish. A community index lists the counts below. Confirm them in the menu.
Steam has 139 achievements. The store description advertises 240 in-game quests. They are different lists.
There is no official unlock-all. Third-party save edits are outside this guide.
Megabonk’s meta progress is a menu, not a skill tree you click during a run. Quests tick up as you play. Silver, earned across runs, is what you spend in Unlocks. Gold is the other currency: it stays inside the run, for chests and shops.
Buy it after you earn it
Character pages on both Megabonk Wiki and megabonk.org say the same thing: when the condition is met, you still purchase the character. Weapon pages say the same about weapons. If a row in this guide lists a kill count, treat the Unlocks price as part of the requirement even when an older paragraph forgot to mention Silver.
Quest milestones that change the menu
| Quests | What that index says you can buy |
|---|---|
| 20 | Refresh |
| 25 | Third weapon slot |
| 30 | Skip |
| 35 | Third tome slot |
| 40 | Banish |
| 45 | Fourth weapon slot |
| 55 | Fourth tome slot |
The same page says the slot milestones unlock a purchase. They do not add the slot the moment the quest pops. It also says buying 40 unlocks makes a Toggler upgrade available for 4 Silver, used to turn items off. Read the shop price in your menu before you budget around the 4.
Refresh, Skip, and Banish are how a long run stops offering the tome you will never take. They matter more in later tiers than in the first Forest clear.
Achievements are not the quest log
On 20 Oct 2026 the Steam store API reported 139 achievements, and the public Steam stats page showed the same total. Highlighted names on the API include Battery, Boss Buster, Cactus, Cursed Doll, Forbidden Juice, Brass Knuckles, Bob (Dead), Anvil, Ghost, and Ice Crystal. Many of those names match gear players talk about. This guide does not treat the achievement list as an item catalog.
The store description separately says 240 in-game quests. A fan wiki has also counted well above 139 by folding challenges and quests into “achievements.” If you are hunting the Steam badge, use the Steam list. If you are hunting a slot, use the in-game quest counter.
A few unlocks people search for
These are the wordings on the community unlock page. The matching weapon or tome page is the longer version.
- Desert. The Steam achievement is worded “Teleport to the 2nd stage on Forest Tier 2 as CL4NK.”
- Kevin. Collect 3 Leeching Crystals in one run. The unlock page calls that an item-pool task, not a boss.
- Hero Sword. Beat a stage boss without picking up items or powerups and without using shrines. XP and normal level-up choices are allowed, according to that page. It also lists a 30 Silver purchase on the weapon index. The menu price wins if those differ.
- Chaos Tome. On a Tier 3 run, fully charge every Charge Shrine on all three stages without leaving the circle. Getting pushed out fails it.
- Holy Book, as described there. Beat a stage 1 boss without taking a hit. The page suggests the Fragile challenge as a way to see the failure immediately. This site has not confirmed Holy Book’s effect in a client.
Individual character tasks, from “1,000 skeletons” to “100 quests,” are on Characters. Weapon tasks are on Weapons.
