Megabonk, without the build calculator.
A fan guide for the horde game: who to unlock, what the weapons and tomes are for, and how a later tier actually kills you. Interactive planners already exist. This one you can skim.
Store price, review snapshot, and achievement total are from Steam on 20 Oct 2026. Roster and unlock text are from public wikis and may already differ in your client.

Six doors
Start with the page that matches the run you just lost. The rest of the guide is the same idea, written out.
01 First runs
Fox or Sir Oofie, the Forest, and what to buy with Silver after you die.
02 Characters
How each one unlocks, what they start holding, and the strength to build around.
03 Unlocks
Quests, the Unlocks menu, and why a requirement met is not the same as owned.
04 Weapons
The seven you start with, and the grind that puts the rest in the pool.
05 Builds
Opinion picks, labeled as opinion. Not a live planner.
06 Later tiers
Final swarms, Desert, Graveyard, and the shrines that punish greed.
Megabonk is vedinad’s single-player roguelike survival game on Steam: random maps, XP, weapons, and builds that get ridiculous if the run lives.
You start as Fox or Sir Oofie. Everyone else is an unlock, then a Silver purchase in the Unlocks menu.
The Steam store text still says 20 characters and 70+ items. Later patches added more. Treat those bullets as the launch pitch.
Build rankings on this site are opinion. Per-level numbers are omitted wherever two public wikis disagree.
The pages
English only. If a figure is from a community wiki and not from Steam, the article says so.

What to do in your first Megabonk runs: Fox or Sir Oofie, Forest Tier 1, XP and shrines, and how Silver unlocks the next character.
Roster Megabonk characters
All Megabonk characters in the 2026 community rosters: how to unlock each one, the starting weapon, and the strength to build around. Percents only where two wikis agree.

Gear Megabonk weapons
Megabonk weapons overview: seven starters, the unlock task for the rest, and where public weapon lists disagree. Not a damage calculator.
Gear Megabonk tomes
All 23 Megabonk tomes from the community indexes that agree: what each level does at common rarity, which 13 are free, and how the other 10 unlock.
Gear Megabonk items
How Megabonk items differ from weapons and tomes, which currencies buy them, and the few items that unlock conditions actually name. Not an 80-item database.
Opinion Megabonk builds
Opinion-only Megabonk build routes: which character and tome to lean on for a first clear, a crit run, poison, gold, and high difficulty. Not a live planner and not a leaderboard.
World Megabonk maps
How Megabonk’s maps are structured: Forest tiers, the CL4NK route into Desert, and what community guides agree on about the Graveyard crypt.
World Megabonk shrines
What the main Megabonk shrines ask you to do: hold a Charge Shrine, pay difficulty at a Greed Shrine, and when a Boss Curse is a bad trade.
Survive Megabonk later tiers
Practical Megabonk tips for Forest Tier 2 and beyond: boss timers, Final Swarm, Desert sandstorms, Graveyard clocks, and which shrine trades to refuse.
Help FAQ
Short answers about Megabonk on Steam: price, starters, why character counts disagree, achievements versus quests, and why this wiki is not a build planner.
What this wiki is for
Interactive build tools already cover live loadouts. Full item tables live on Megabonk Wiki , megabonk.org , Fextralife . Those counts do not always match each other, or the Steam store blurb.
This site stays on the skim: a first-run path, every character’s unlock and strength, weapons and tomes, an unlock route, and later-tier tips. Opinion is marked. We do not ship a planner.
In Steam’s words
vedinad shipped Megabonk on Steam on 18 Sep 2025. The store calls it a roguelike survival game about hordes, bosses, random maps, and random upgrade offers. Platforms listed: Windows and Linux. Support mail on the store page is vedinadgames@gmail.com.
Short answers
Is this an official Megabonk site?
No. megabonkguide.wiki is a fan guide. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by vedinad, Valve, or Steam.
Who do I start as?
Fox and Sir Oofie are the two characters public wikis list as available immediately. Fox starts with the Firestaff and gains Luck as you level. Sir Oofie starts with the Sword and gains Armor. Everyone else is an unlock, then a Silver purchase.
Why does the Steam page say 20 characters if guides list 21?
The store description still says 20 characters, 240 in-game quests, and 70+ items. That copy was checked on 20 Oct 2026, and the store asset timestamp is 14 Oct 2025, before the December 2025 Spooky update that announced a new character, weapon, map, and items. Community rosters in 2026 list 21 characters. Use the in-game Unlocks menu as the live count.
Where is the interactive build planner?
Not here, on purpose. This wiki is a skimmable guide. Build notes are labeled opinion. Full item databases and live planners live elsewhere, and their numbers do not always match.
How much does Megabonk cost?
The Steam store API on 20 Oct 2026 listed a US price of $9.99, not free. Windows and Linux are the store platforms. Mac was not listed. There is a demo (AppID 3520070) and a soundtrack DLC (AppID 4046730). Prices move.
