Megabonk shrines

Sources checked megabonk.org shrine guide and tome-unlock lines that name Shrine of Succ. Spawn counts from Fextralife are mentioned only as that wiki’s figures. May change with patches.

Quick answer

A Charge Shrine wants you to stand in its circle until it finishes, then pick one of three stats. Leave the circle and it does not count.

A Greed Shrine pays you and, on the shrine guide, adds 5% difficulty each time you take it. Skip it when the boss is already close.

A Boss Curse adds another boss and can add another chest. That is a bonus only if you can kill the first boss.

Chaos Tome and at least one weapon quest fail if you get pushed out of a Charge Shrine. The circle is a task, not just a buff.

Shrines are the objects you walk up to. They are not level-up offers. The useful habit is to read the label before you interact, because two of them change the rest of the run and one of them freezes you in place.

Charge Shrine

Stand inside the radius until the charge completes. Enemies do not pause. If you have no space, no knockback, and no circle of your own, you will get pushed out.

When it completes, the shrine guide says you pick one of three stat upgrades. A golden Charge Shrine is the same stand-still test with a stronger offer. Take the stat that fixes the thing killing you: damage if enemies are not dying, defense or move speed if you cannot hold the next circle.

The Chaos Tome unlock is “every Charge Shrine, all three stages, Tier 3, and you never leave.” One shove fails the whole attempt. That is a planned run, not something you combine with a Greed spree.

A community shrine page says Silver Gain was removed from Charge Shrine rewards in v1.0.49. The Christmas Steam post is the v1.0.49 note from 25 Dec 2025, but this site did not re-read that post line by line. If Silver Gain is back in your offer, take the client over the guide.

Greed Shrine

The same shrine guide: you interact, you get an economic reward, and each activation adds 5% difficulty for the rest of the run. Take it when waves are already vanishing. Leave it when you are spending the whole stage kiting one elite.

“Economic” can mean gold for chests or progress toward a purchase. It does not mean the boss has less health.

Boss Curse

Interact, and the fight gains another copy of the boss. The guide’s reason to do it is another chest if you win. The reason to skip it is that you were not comfortable with one boss. Graveyard notes say these curses also affect the coffin ghosts, so a curse there is not only the final fight.

Other names you will meet

NameWhy it is in a guide
Shrine of SuccAttraction Tome’s unlock is using it 8 times.
Shrine of BalanceFextralife and a Steam Graveyard guide call it Graveyard-only: a large bonus to one stat and a large penalty to another, and the penalty sticks. Read both halves before you take it.
MicrowaveNot really a shrine, but it is the object in Noelle’s Ice Crystal task.

Minimap habits from beginner write-ups: learn the mark for a shrine versus a pot versus a chest, and do not cross a live wave for a mark you cannot name yet.
